Form 1040 calculator
The real federal return, computed line by line as you fill it in. Every figure is worked out in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere. Ask any computed line why? and it will name the statute it came from and the lines it was figured from.
This is not an IRS form, and TaxMath is not the IRS.
TaxMath is an independent site with no affiliation to the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of the Treasury, or any other part of the federal government. What follows is a calculator, offered for convenience: it lays itself out like Form 1040 so the arithmetic is easy to follow line by line. This replica cannot be printed and used to file. A printout of this page is not a return, and the IRS will not accept it.
The panel at the bottom of the page is different: it fills the IRS’s own Form 1040, downloaded from irs.gov, and that document is the official form and can be filed. TaxMath does not check it, sign it, or send it. Nobody has reviewed these figures but you — read every line before you file, and file through the IRS or an authorized e-file provider.
Every line with the documents behind it, a "why?" on each computed figure, and type sized to be read.

TaxMath does not draw its own version of the 2025 return. It downloads the Form 1040 the IRS is publishing today and types this return into it — in your browser, so nothing you entered is sent anywhere. Every figure comes from the ledger above; a line the engine could not work out is left blank rather than guessed at.
