About Us
TaxMath is a free, quick-and-dirty tax estimation and comparison tool built to help individuals compare tax outcomes across US states and Canadian provinces.
What TaxMath Does
- Compare estimated taxes across multiple US states or Canadian provinces in one view.
- Use current federal and state/provincial rate tables (updated for available tax years).
- Save and reload scenarios for your own reference.
- Browse live tax tables by year and jurisdiction.
Important Limitations
TaxMath is for estimation and comparison only. It assumes a single filer, no extra deductions beyond the standard deduction (where applicable), and long-term capital gains only — short-term gains should be included in regular income. We are not CPAs and this is not professional tax advice. Always verify with official sources or a tax professional.
Tax Tables & Data
You can browse the underlying rate tables we use on our Tax Tables page. We strive to align with official federal and state/provincial sources; if you spot an error, we’d appreciate a note at feedback [at] taxmath.org.
